Høvringen was originally a seter hamlet with cows, sheep, goats and horses. There is still a rich animal life, and in addition, Høvringen is a modern tourist place where village tradition is combined with modern-day standards.

The landscape at Høvringen and in Rondane is impressive. A comprehensive network of marked paths carries you into the mighty mountain landscape. You can choose short walks in ancient pine forests, walks in easy mountain terrain or more demanding walks to one of Rondane’s many peaks over 2000 metres.

FISHING
There are several small and large mountain lakes, rivers and streams which give good opportunities for those who wish to try their fishing skills. Lågen in Gudbrandsdalen is especially famous as a good fishing river. You can hook both trout, greyling and char.
The tourist office or your tourist establishment can give information about fishing and hunting in the area. Fishing permits may be bought at Høvringen or at the tourist office.

BOAT RENTAL
For those who would like a boat trip there is the opportunity to rent boats on the idyllic Smuksjøen Lake.

RIDING
During the summer there are organized rides in the mountains from Høvringen. Along with experienced people can experience Rondane on horseback. You can choose from day trips, tours with accommodation or exciting wilderness trips.
